A lottery agent came to inform the winner of the large sum of money in a recent draw. The lady of the house was delighted with the great news that her husband had won a cash prize of one million rupees. But she soon became concerned about her husband, who was a heart patient. Such unbelievable news could give her a heart attack, she feared. She decided to visit a nearby doctor for advice on such an urgent matter. The doctor advised her not to tell her husband the news directly. He offered to go with her so that it would be her job to handle the matter carefully. Back home, the wife sat next to the husband hoping that everything would work out. The doctor, after exchanging formal greetings, asked what she would do if she ever had good one crore cash in hand. The man stared at the doctor in disbelief for a moment in a pensive mood. After thinking for a while, he replied that he would gladly offer half of the cash to the doctor. Hearing this, the doctor collapsed to the ground.

A doctor, while talking to a visitor to his clinic, asks how his brother is doing after undergoing a week’s worth of treatment. The visitor seemed cheerful and reported that his sister is feeling better than before in all respects, but he is still facing a minor problem. The doctor asks to relate the signs and symptoms of that problem. The only thing is that his brother doesn’t sweat at all, reports the visitor. The reassuring doctor quickly replies that his sister will soon start sweating all over when he sees the medical bill she sends him.

A young child as a high school student was repeatedly urged to show great respect for elders and parents. The local school teacher often teased him to keep his parents’ heads up and never let them down. He was always bothered by how he could increase his parents’ esteem for him. Back home, the parents also repeated the same thing that he heard from the teachers of always doing such acts to keep the parents’ heads up.

One day, as he was coming home from school, he saw his father resting in the room with his eyes closed, perhaps to take a nap. The boy calmly took a cat and placed it under the bed just below his father’s resting head. He then began to work his way up by lifting the entire bed from the head side. Father woke with a start and found himself nearly slipping from that height. He cried in surprise looking at the child. The boy told him politely that he was just trying to do what he thought was right to keep his father’s head up and never let him down.

In another case, a child was continually told to make his parents’ name shine by doing some unique act. The boy thought and thought in many ways. At last he had an idea. His parents were out. He decided that he would make his parents’ name shine. When they returned home, to their astonishment they saw from the entrance a light that shone even during the day above the front door of the room. As they approached, they saw that his son had attached a strong tube to his father’s identification plate. He reported that he was trying to shine his father’s name.
