After reading magazines, watching movies and watching the latest edition of soap operas your imagination runs wild. You start to think that I want a life like this or I hope it never happens to me. The reality is that our lives are nothing like a movie or a soap opera. Some things may happen to you in the soap opera, but in general what appears on television is not reality.

It’s okay, men like objective things and hate anything emotional. The emotional nature and lack of facts in a soap opera are probably the main reasons why men don’t like soap operas, but they are not the only reasons.

Most men absolutely hate soap operas because they know that women are going to compare their lives to what happens on the latest soap opera. Women for some reason want to relive most of the soap opera moments. It’s only fair that they have conversations with their friends about what happened in the latest edition of Coronation Street. But don’t make the big mistake of thinking that your life should be like a soap opera or a movie.

Life is actually full of good times and bad. Life would be boring if it were easy. But don’t make life more difficult than it already is by being a drama queen. Sometimes men find these dramatic moments entertaining, but they go too far and he will find them annoying. Too much drama or blowing up an issue too much and I’m sorry, she’s thinking (manipulative devious witch) maybe I’m dating the wrong woman.

Women who believe that they should live all the good moments that their last soap opera character has experienced are also very naive. While there’s nothing wrong with reminding him that he should be romantic once in a while, don’t bombard him with the latest fashion of him seen on Coronation Street every week. That’s tacky, annoying, and makes you feel like you’re not worth constantly comparing yourself to a movie star or soap opera star. Comparing him once in a while is fine, but don’t constantly put him down, because you wouldn’t want him to do the same to you.

The reality of real life is the challenge of raising children, balancing your finances, buying a house, shopping for groceries, etc. Balanced with some very exciting moments such as wedding days, honeymoons, romantic dates, when your child walks or talks for the first time, when your child marries and continues with the next generation of your family.

When he’s not working on the latest movie, even Brad Pitt has to think about the more mundane things in life. So don’t try to make your life like a fantasy story on TV.
