Fat-cutting soups are becoming popular for their taste, temptation, and benefits. I hardly eat out, because I like to know what nutrients I am putting into my body. I love to cook for my family and friends. Reminds me of Maya Angelou’s quote — I’m just someone who likes to cook and for whom sharing food is a form of expression.

When you start cooking, be full of love, compassionate and affectionate. You are going to prepare meals for your family whom you love the most. Your spouse is your love and children are your life. With that link in mind, be a bit creative; put a little sincere effort and mix the ingredients well with faith. Mix it up with a little cuteness, bring a little sunshine and sprinkle your love abundantly. While serving food, forget who you’re serving! May it be your spouse, child, family member, neighbor or an unknown person in the church or a homeless person and believe in your heart that you are serving a SOUL, not the BODY. When your children grow up, they will never forget your true love. They will return all your love with interest when you need it. As you help your children and spouse every day, make your home a heaven, a true living paradise. This life is too short and too precious; we have only one life, nothing more.

Cabbage, Celery and Onion Soup

1 medium cabbage cut into chunks

4 chopped celery broths

1 medium onion sliced

1 small chopped broccoli

2 teaspoons cumin seeds

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

1 teaspoon oregano leaves

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon of thyme

1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

3/4 cup tomato sauce

2 teaspoons cornstarch

Salt to taste

8 cups of water

1 tablespoon of Ghee/oil

6 bay leaves

Heat the ghee/oil in a deep pot with cumin seeds. When the cumin seeds turn golden brown, add the ginger-garlic paste and stir several times. Add the paprika and turmeric powder, stir, add the tomato sauce and let cook for twenty seconds. Add all the vegetables to the pot and mix well. Add salt, black pepper, bay leaves and water and bring to a boil. Cook over medium low heat for 5 minutes. Mix the cornstarch in a quarter cup of water and add to the boiling soup. After a couple of minutes, lower the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Try to eat slightly crispy vegetables. If you can’t handle crisp vegetables, cook for two more minutes.

If you cook soup in a pressure cooker, read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. When it whistles, cook for just one minute and turn off the heat. Let it sit and cool for ten minutes before opening the lid. The soup is ready. Throw away the bay leaves. This is the number 1 soup for cutting fat. Enjoy a large bowl of hot, sizzling soup many times a day.
