How many times have you looked at something and thought, wouldn’t it be good, and common sense, to change the way we do/approach it? Given that this nation is often considered by many Americans to be the land of the free, etc., shouldn’t we examine why so many of these constitutional rights/guarantees seem to be losing their emphasis/meaning? Why do Americans seem to be constantly choosing individuals, who are focused on their personal/political agenda and/or self-interest, rather than the greater good? With that in mind, this article will briefly attempt to consider, examine, revise, and discuss 6 common sense priorities that we need to start emphasizing.

one. If we eliminate systemic racism: Whether we want to admit it or not, systemic racism doesn’t just exist in America, it’s somewhat widespread! In almost every aspect of our lives, we witness clear evidence of His ugly = head! It is especially obvious in our judicial/criminal justice systems, where there is a significant disparity between how different people are treated! Think about why, during this terrible pandemic, certain communities have suffered, much more than others, apparently because of ethnicity, race and socioeconomics! It seems that equal justice, etc., is not very equal, at all!

two. If we had equal protection of the law, rights, freedom, liberty, justice: Why are some treated differently than others, when it comes to equal protection, etc.? The reality is that some people are treated very differently than others by the police, the courts, etc.!

3. If politicians, in fact, served and represented, constitute: The last time the Federal Minimum Wage was raised, to its current $7.25 an hour, was about a dozen years ago, while the cost of living has risen steadily. We have seen, in that same period, the salaries of the same congressmen and senators, who claim that we cannot afford to increase that minimum rate, increase their own salary, about 6 times! This horrible pandemic has taken a significant toll, not only on public health, etc., but also on the economy and the income of most Americans. Yet while they have seen fit to cut taxes for the wealthiest individuals and the largest corporations, many of these politicians claim that we cannot afford to pass much-needed economic stimulus to the rest of us! We need to demand from these officials, to begin with, that they actually serve us and represent us, rather than their personal best interests!

Four. If we protected clean air and water: Don’t we owe it, to future generations, to the delivery, a planet, with clean air and water? Aren’t you tired of hearing excuses and/or denials when it comes to this essential priority?

5. If we proactively address Climate Change: Whether some want to deny it, procrastinate or make false claims, the risk of climate change is real and essential. Follow the science that indicates the clock is ticking when it comes to addressing this need!

6. If we were united, instead of polarized, for the common good: If you do not admit it, we see too much, partisan politics, when there is a need, seek, a meeting of the mind, for the greater good, can not become part of the solution, instead of part of the problem!

Wouldn’t it be nice if the real priorities were prioritized and if we made America sane and focused again? Wake up, America, before it’s too late!
