Self-hypnosis is a truly powerful tool, but it takes time to learn and its effects are not limitless. It is important to demystify the use of hypnosis. The use of self-hypnosis is quite different from that of classical hypnosis.

During classical hypnosis, the subject relies on the practitioner for guidance and assistance. The practitioner is aware of the subject’s goals and is therefore prepared to use different methods and scripts to enable the subject to achieve the desired results. It is important to recognize that, in reality, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, as the practitioner only provides the stimulus to allow the subject to enter a hypnotic state. This classic use of hypnosis is the most common and is found predominantly within the hypnotherapy milieu. The practitioner can observe the subject and adjust the hypnotic process according to the requirements presented by the subject.

With self-hypnosis, all parts of the classic hypnosis method are performed by the same person. That’s where some of the limitations occur. It takes a lot of time and practice to make these processes work consistently. Going into a self-induced hypnotic state is relatively simple, and the work comes when you need to use this process. Lots of people have tried it and didn’t notice any major effects and just gave up, that’s wrong. Some effects are cumulative and repetition and perseverance are needed until the effect becomes apparent.

Self-hypnosis once mastered is incredibly powerful, parts of the self that were considered permanent can be changed. A common example is self-hypnosis for weight loss. Now, in this example, self-hypnosis can’t magically erase the fat on someone’s body, but it can trigger strong reminders or post hypnotic cues. These cues then allow the subject to say, increase her motivation to lose weight, restrict her appetite, increase encouragement to exercise more, and a host of other valuable methods to aid weight loss. Self-hypnosis can be very effective in weight loss, but it does not work directly on weight, it simply increases and helps facilitate weight loss through standard means. It must be emphasized that it won’t magically make people slimmer, but it will certainly help them get there.

The use of visualization within self-hypnosis is another tool that can be of great help in achieving your goals. If a good visualization of the intended goal can be created, then the self-hypnotic process has been found to be most effective. Visualizations are not complicated but should be specific to the intent. There is an increasing amount of evidence that the use of visualizations can have physical effects on the body, the process is not yet fully understood, but its value and presence is quantifiable.

It is important to understand that these techniques have merit and can help achieve many goals and effects; however, the goals must be realistic. Hypnosis won’t affect the physical body in ways that go beyond biology, you won’t gain inches in height or miraculously lose all your excess weight just by thinking about it. Self-hypnosis facilitates the changes that the subject sets in motion, but these changes are limited to physical processes. The predominant value of self-hypnotic techniques is in the “I”, objectives such as gaining confidence, losing weight, reducing or eradicating pain, overcoming fears and phobias, reducing stress and achieving relaxation and sleep are realistic and achievable through self-hypnosis. . There are many more aspects of life that self-hypnosis can be used for, and the more well-versed and practiced a subject becomes, the greater the results and the more complex the issues that can be addressed.
