If you are looking for a lively atmosphere on your cheap vacation in Matagorda, then Puerto del Carmen, located a few kilometers away, is the place to visit. A long promenade with restaurants, shops and bars runs along the edge of the beach from Matagorda to Puerto del Carmen and is ideal for a sunset stroll in the warm evening air. Timanfaya National Park, a nature reserve with epic rocky scenery, a volcano, and black volcanic beaches, is not far from the resort and is a great day out for the whole family. Here in the reserve you can enjoy magnificent views of the island and the sea and enjoy a meal at the restaurant that uses direct heat from the earth’s core to cook your steak just the way you like it. Another great day out is a visit to the Lanzarote Aquarium in Costa Teguise. The pools and tanks here are home to all kinds of marine life, including sharks, poisonous fire dragons, triggerfish, rays, and clownfish.
