PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) is a thermoplastic polymer or vinyl polymer built from repeating vinyl groups. PVC is widely used in the construction industry because it is inexpensive, durable, and easy to assemble. PVC was discovered at least twice in the 19th century, first by Henri Victor Regnault in the year 1835 and by Eugen Baumann in the year 1872. Later, in the early 20th century, the Russian chemist Ivan Ostromislensky and Fritz Klatte of chemistry German company Griesheim-Elektron both attempted to use PVC (polyvinyl chloride) in commercial products.

PVC is widely used in many areas and they are:

Clothing: PVC is widely used in clothing, and PVC clothing is common in goth, punk, and alternative fashion. Although cheaper than rubber, leather, and latex, PVC is more widely available. Because it is waterproof, PVC is commonly used in coats, ski gear, shoes, jackets, aprons, and bags.

Pipes: PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is used to produce pipes for various municipal and industrial applications. Its characteristics of light weight, high strength and low reactivity make it very suitable for this purpose.

Signs: Polyvinyl chloride or PVC is formed into flat sheets in a variety of thicknesses and colors. PVC is often expanded to create voids within the material, providing additional thickness and minimal additional cost.

Made from a combination of plastic and vinyl, PVC pipe is durable, hard to damage, long-lasting, and will not rust, rot, or wear over time. Because of these vibratory characteristics, such pipes are most commonly used in water systems, underground wiring, sewer lines, and many more areas. These types of pipes are used for irrigation systems that have proven to be effective and have been considered an affordable and reliable means of water pipes ever since. The smooth surface of PVC pipe is also resistant to bacterial contamination and therefore many water companies rely on these pipes to keep their systems free from contamination.

These are also a suitable material for greenhouses, small playgrounds, furniture, pool toy frames, foam weapons, custom truck covers, or even giant construction sets for kids. These tubes are a popular material for window and door frames due to their stabilizers and impact modifiers. PVC pipes are classified into many types including:

o PVC Water Pipe – Larger PVC pipes are used to transport fresh water from water treatment plants to homes and businesses. Smaller PVC pipes are used to distribute the water to sinks, showers, and other fixtures.

o PVC plumbing pipe: These types of pipes are used for a specific purpose in plumbing. It is a kind of plastic plumbing pipe that is mainly used to transport high pressure water.

o PVC Sewer Pipes – Sewer carrier pipes are housed within containment pipes that do not create leaks before the outer containment wall breaks.
