Things have gotten more difficult these days, between the lousy economy and people more stressed about life, bills, problems, etc. There are more scams, identity theft, stolen wallets and purses, shoplifting incidents, etc.

The sad thing is that even though crime doesn’t pay, some normally nice people feel like they have no choice and try something that is criminal in nature. For this reason, many people are starting to carry pepper sprays, personal alarms, whistles, stun guns, and other personal protection items.

Here’s an example… Two college-age men may feel like they need some money and decide to wait and loiter in a large department store parking lot for a chance to simply steal a purse from a lonely woman.

After the sun goes down, they want to find a younger lady, walk out of the store alone, then catch her off guard, grab her bag, and then run, get in the car, and take off. They don’t want to hurt her, mind you, they just want to grab her money and get out of there. After all, they have never done anything like this before, but things are so difficult that they feel they have no choice. They don’t even carry any kind of weapon.

Here comes a twenty-year-old college student, who has just walked out of the store with some packets of Chinese noodle soup (you know) that she bought with her only dollar and although the guys hiding behind the trees don’t know it, she he has no other money. The men think that she might have some money, because she drives a nice car that her daddy bought her after she graduated from high school with perfect grades.

So these guys think he’s going to be an easy target, to shoot down and grab the bag and run from the scene. They don’t know he’s carrying pepper spray and so far he’s never had to use it!

So when the girl approaches her, the two men begin to walk quickly towards her. She sees them coming towards her, senses something happening, reaches into her pocket and grabs the pepper spray keychain her dad bought her before she left for school, and flips the lock so it’s now in the off position. be shot at someone

When the guys get closer, they yell “hey girl” and she yells “please get away from me!” but they keep walking towards her, so now she, who doesn’t realize that they only want her purse, is feeling the fight or the slight sense of fear that people have when she knows something is going on. She pulls the trusty little friend out of her pocket, points it at the nearest of the two boys, and pulls the trigger, like on a can of bug spray. A powerful jet shoots eight feet and right into the face of the first boy, who immediately begins to scream, as he clutches his face in his hands. He’s having trouble breathing, his eyes are now tight shut, he’s coughing and choking, and it stopped him in his tracks!

The second boy is stunned by the observance of this and just stands there in shock. She then points it at him, and he yells “no” as she pushes down once more and unleashes a stream of powerful pepper spray on her face. Her actions mimic the first child. Her hands on her face, trying to rub her eyes, which only makes it worse, rubbing the solution into her eyes even more. They both fall to their knees, coughing and even crying, gasping for breath.

Fortunately, the girl is able to get into her car, start the engine and get out of there! As she quickly walks away from her, she thinks how nice her dad was to get her that little pepper spray keychain. She wondered how much it would cost. $20? $30? Whatever it was, it was money well spent, because it could have saved her life. She had no idea what those two boys had in mind, and she wasn’t going to find out.

The two children only suffered for 30-40 minutes as pepper spray does not cause any long-term effects or harm. However, they sure learned a lesson and may never try anything like that again. Thank God things worked out, at least for the girl.
