LOWA Combat Boots Review – Tips On Choosing The Right Boots

Walking for extended periods on uneven ground can be challenging for your feet, especially if you’re not wearing the right shoes for your feet and walking conditions. A lot of people seem to be turning to LOWA for their boots. I personally don’t own a pair of LOWA boots, but I know several people who do and they all say the same thing: that they are comfortable, have little or no breakage over time, and that no other military would wear them. boots. I was given a pair of LOWA Combat boots to try on and see what all the fuss was about.

The LOWA Combat boot is a high leg boot which means the height is noticeably higher compared to other boots. Although the difference is only a couple of cm at most, it provides a lot of additional support.

Combat boots feature:

• 2.6mm water repellent leather,
• GORE-TEX® Duracom lining for excellent waterproofing,
• Vibram® sole “Tsavo” (repairable),
• Flexible Achilles skin panel for heel support,
• Extra strong open hook lacing system,
• 1800g/pair.

When I put these boots on, the first thing I noticed was how comfortable they were right out of the box. That’s nothing compared to how they felt after wearing them a few more times and breaking them in properly, very different than when I got my first pair of boots, which took quite a bit of wearing before they felt comfortable. If you’re not used to knee-high boots, try them on for a while and you’ll stop noticing it, and the extra support they offer is noticeable when you’re traversing uneven ground or scrambling over some rocks. .

I have tried them in all seasons, in sunny heats, walking on snow covered moorland and all types in between. These Combat boots have held up very well in all the environments I’ve tested them in, they certainly pass the wind, rain and cold tests with flying colors. My feet stayed warm and dry in all those conditions. The only time these boots fell off was when I had them outside in very hot conditions and my feet got hot and sweaty. Although this is nothing I haven’t experienced in the other boots I own that are also GORE-TEX, I don’t see this as a major issue for anyone who owns these boots as most of the time we don’t have such glorious weather in the UK, especially not in the training areas. There is no question that they are clearly built to last with a high grade of leather used and certainly live up to the LOWA name.

In conclusion, the LOWA Combat boots really are as good boots as everyone says they are, both from a military perspective and as hiking boots as well. The boot is further enhanced by a simple replacement of the standard insoles.

To sum up:

• The boots are well made from high quality materials that are tough and will withstand whatever tests and terrain they may go through.
• They are comfortable and keep your feet dry and warm.
• they don’t hold up as well in very hot conditions, though realistically in such conditions you’d wear a lighter boot anyway.
• the standard insoles that come with the boot are quite flimsy and while comfortable I don’t think you’ll be able to wear them down much.

I actually replaced the insoles that came with the boot with some LOWA insoles from a UK company which kept the comfort factor up while increasing the durability of the boot.

According to most people I talk to who own a pair of LOWA boots say the boots will probably last 10-15 years with proper maintenance, and the only thing that will need to be replaced is the sole which will naturally wear out. The sole of the Combat boot can be replaced, there are many boot repair companies out there. I just did a Google search.
