The most important harmonious aspects to look for in a long-term relationship and synastry compatibility are the Sun and Moon aspects, Venus to Mars/Sun/Ascendant and Chiron to Venus/Sun/Moon/Jupiter and Neptune. So look for these first.

Now the reason some of the joint aspects are good “sometimes” is because it depends on the individual. With Saturn, it delays, teaches, and restrains, but it can also be a source of reliability and stability. If you’re someone who needs a lot of freedom in your relationship and doesn’t like being too dependent on him, this aspect can feel too restrictive. On the other hand, if you are looking for a partner who can bring much-needed stability to your emotions (moon), self-expression (sun), or
to a ratio (Ascending/Descending) you may prefer this aspect.

Neptune, on the other hand, can be quite a dreamer, to a fault. Disillusionment and victimhood could surface in a relationship with this aspect (not to mention substance abuse). With Uranus, a conjunction could indicate many separations (let’s say your partner was a pilot or traveled a lot on business, this wouldn’t be too bad), however, if you are someone who prefers a 9 to 5 partner, this could cause a lot of problems. And then there’s Pluto, well, intensity is good for some things and not always good for others…

Next, we will see the aspects of synastry compatibility for BE CAREFUL OF! OH

Look for squares, oppositions, and sometimes conjunction between you and your partner’s planets, especially between the outer planets (Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto) with your personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars). The lost planet, Jupiter, is a mixed bag. In a square or opposite aspect, it more or less adds arrogance, exaggeration, laziness and exaggeration. Nothing too bad, but it could add an annoying element to the mix.

The most challenging aspects (to say the least) to look for They range from Saturn to Venus, the Moon and Chiron. It is called the “anguish aspect” in some astrology books. So watch out for these! The next most difficult are from Uranus due to the reversal or separation effect. Pluto to your personal planets can bring you manipulation/possessiveness/jealousy/excessive control. And Neptune again, can lead you down the path of dissolution and disappointment.

So, as you can see, squares and oppositions primarily denote a problem area in a relationship. However, it can also have a stimulating effect. You must look at your synastry combinations to see how your squares and oppositions work in your relationships.

Next, look at the midpoint between the Sun and the Moon. Take the midpoint of your sun/moon and check if the other person’s Sun or Moon has a Difficult aspect, like; conjunction, square, opposition, sesquisquare, semisquare within 8 degrees. Then compare theirs with yours. Combine the two midpoints to get your combined midpoint and check both sets of moons/suns up to this point. This adds energy to the join to make it “official” so to speak. Not that it always ends in marriage, but there is rarely a couple that doesn’t have some connection here. You can even check the
progressed cards The sun progressed by forward or reverse progression can also bring about this aspect, especially when the couple meets or when they become more committed.

Now, in evaluating your synastry, if you were looking for “Mr. Right or Ms. Right” and it’s important to have sparks in your relationship, look for harmonious aspects involving Venus with Mars, Pluto and Uranus and Mars with Jupiter, and ascending. If you are looking for a good partner and the sparks are not so important, look for venus and moon, venus, saturn, sun and ascendant. If you want a relationship that is not too predictable, look for harmonious aspects with Uranus. However, if you love stability, longevity, and security, look for harmonious aspects to Saturn.

Now remember, even the most romantic couples, even couples whose marriages have turned golden, and even Cinderella and Prince Charming, had some challenging aspects to their synastry compatibility. However, it makes the relationship more pleasant the more harmonious the aspects are. And you have to decide what is important to you in a relationship, what can you get over and what can you put up with!
