Think about it: binge eating or binge eating will cause you to gain weight fast. While a binge may only last a few hours or days, in some extreme cases, it can last for weeks as well. If you want to maintain a healthy weight or maintain your current weight, you need to stop overeating.

A good way to start is to stop binge eating any unhealthy foods. Go through your house and throw out any junk food you find. Replace those junk foods with healthier options like fruits and vegetables. Another simple trick to help you stop binge eating is to consume larger amounts of water every day. The standard consumption amount is approximately 8-12 glasses per day. By filling your stomach with water, you won’t feel as hungry. Drink water between meals and again just before eating. Don’t try to fill yourself up with unhealthy drinks like soda. Make water your only healthy option.

A great way to break the habit of compulsive overeating is to eat 5 small meals at regular intervals of the day instead of the conventional 3 heavy meals a day. A good rule of thumb is to eat a satisfying meal every 3 to 4 hours.

Binge eating can and often will start as a result of boredom. If you find yourself bored and wanting to pass the time eating, remember to try the gum method.
