1. Correct forehands

The badminton forehand is most often used during a badminton game. To play like a pro, perform the correct forehand technique.

After mastering this shot, you can perform many types of shots, such as the badminton clear, drop shot, and smash.

After those shots, you can learn more complex shots like the badminton jump, clear attack, and badminton hits.

2. Maximize wrist action

You may have heard people mention that badminton is ALL ABOUT THE WRIST. Well, this is true, but it is only half the truth.

Power comes from the action of your wrist AND your swing (badminton shot).

The KEY to maximizing badminton wrist action is not to grip the racket too tightly. When you hold the racket too tightly, you’re essentially tightening the muscles in your hand, which restricts wrist movement. Therefore, you won’t be able to perform a flick of the wrist if you hold the racket too tightly.

3. Body balance

When you don’t have good balance, it’s harder to produce more power in your badminton strokes.

When you take a powerful swing, you will most likely lose your balance. Therefore, you will subconsciously not swing hard since you know that you will lose your balance after your swing hard.

Experienced or good badminton players will always know how to use their NON RACKET ARM (arm that does not hold the racket) to maintain balance at all times.

Stretch your non-racquet arm to counter the weight of the badminton racket and the force of your swing.

4. Don’t tense your muscles

Badminton is a game of speed rather than power. Powerful badminton shots, like the badminton jump, come from swing speed and the action of the player’s wrist.

Therefore, focus on fast movements (quick changes).

To do this, be flexible.

To be flexible, don’t tense your body muscles! The key is to RELAX the muscles in your body to play better.

5. Master the basics

How far can you go with your badminton skills? That depends on how well you know the basics.

First, grip your badminton racket correctly. If you’re not gripping the racket correctly, it’s hard to generate maximum power for your shots.
