Looking for a change in status or history, are you sure you are not working or praying in contradiction to your spouse? He or she may not be comfortable with the change now and the desired state may be difficult to achieve.

This is why you need to look within and check the health of your marriage. Because, without unity of mind, things would become more difficult and frustrating.

What can you say about the level of unity in your marriage? Average, good or none?

In the science lab, the catalyst is essential for a chemical reaction to occur.

You need to introduce a catalyst if you want the desired results to come faster. So it is in the world of marriage; unity is a catalyst.

It is the couple’s responsibility to introduce unity into their relationship as soon as possible if they want a progressive married life.

Unlike the world of science, where you can buy sodium chloride at your neighborhood chemical store, in the world of marriage, you have to make the marriage catalyst yourself. It can not be found on any shelf to buy.

What is unity?

It is the state of agreeing and working together, being united to form a unit to achieve.

The definition has explained the unit in the language of a layman. Unity is the language of marriage. A situation of two hearts breathing as one shows that without unity, marriage cannot survive. The world is full of confusion, turbulence and confrontation of different sizes and shapes, so you need a person of the same value to live and stand out. From the point of view of things, unity is very, very important.

So how can we get to the unit if it’s not in the store? You start building unity from the day you decide to marry a man or woman of your choice. How?

Putting in your conscience that the marital relationship is not about “you”, it is about him or her. Let it register in your brain as the case may be. You have made the decision to throw your bread on the waters, because after many days, you will find it again. (Ecclesiastes 11:1).

The marriage relationship demands that you deliberately do everything in your power and legitimacy to please your spouse, your number one and best friend.

You have to discern the area of his life where you can touch to achieve his heart’s desires. Address a pain. You will be building on the wrong foundation if you focus only on your personal happiness and self-fulfillment in the union. Thinking only about what you can get leads to anguish and frustration. Marriage is not self-centered, but is about love, care, affection, consideration for your spouse, giving trust, building the bridge for honesty, self-discipline, compassion. Show your responsibility and mutual respect. These are the loaves that you will cast on the waters. Show your love in various ways as the occasion demands and then watch the wall of unity grow and strengthen with bronze as the process continues.

When this attitude becomes reciprocal, i.e. not one-sided, the duo is responding positively to their spouse’s love, based on behavior, the marriage will withstand the trials and tests that marriages face.

Then the unity of mind will help to make things happen faster.

Note: In my next column, I will continue with how to build unity in marital relationships. It is our story.

Until then!
