In 2001, the Republican Party held a majority in both houses of Congress plus the executive branch, and they abused this power by making many anti-terrorism laws that were inconsistent with the US Constitution. The Republicans lost this trifecta of power in 1953 during the Joseph McCarthy red scare that disenfranchised innocent people and the American voter was smart enough not to let the GOP have that much power for about 50 years. These laws that strip the rights of all American citizens continue to be extended by both political parties in Congress. Although the Republican party has committed many abuses with these unconstitutional laws, there will be no accountability for the Republicans who made these laws until these laws have been repealed and the truth is made public. The Democrats can win the 2022 election with a landslide victory if they tighten the rules of the US Senate and start repealing these many unconstitutional anti-terrorism laws. Republicans have engaged in egregious abuses to control the US Supreme Court to ensure that these laws are never considered ultra vires, which would expose many Republican Party crimes.

The Watergate scandal that revealed executive abuses of warrantless electronic surveillance by US President Richard Nixon in the 1970s led to a landslide victory for Democrats to defend the Constitution. Joe Biden became a US senator in 1973 riding the Democratic wave to positions of power. US Senator Patrick Leahy, known as a champion of constitutional rights, was also elected in the 1970s. Since 2001, Democrats have failed the American people by agreeing with Republicans to pass laws that eradicate our constitutional rights.

The Democratic Party must uphold the Bill of Rights by changing the Senate rules in order to break away from the Republican Party. The Republican Party will never agree to repeal anti-terrorism laws because they love to abuse their power to win at all costs. In reality, the anti-terrorism laws gave unlimited powers to the three branches of government by nullifying the United States Constitution. United States Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia proudly declared in public, “The Constitution is dead.” Current Republican congressmen repeat this phrase which is contrary to their oath to uphold the Constitution. Although history shows that the Republican Party does not respect the Constitution, many people falsely believe that the Republican Party does because it supports the Second Amendment.

The Democratic Party will be wiped out during the 2022 and future elections if they don’t stand up to the Republican Party now and fight for our constitutional rights. Windmills and solar panels will not win elections. The Democrats just need to be the political party of the 1970s that defends the constitutional rights of the people, not just the Second Amendment. We should always appreciate what other people do for us, especially politicians. The Democratic Party was elected to defend our constitutional rights and they do not appreciate the power that was given to them. Any political party that does not fully support the US Constitution should be removed from power because it harms us all, including the dignity of our nation’s brilliant Founders. It’s really simple, Democrats should run on the “Constitution is alive” political platform, which is a legacy to be proud of.
