Foam stickers are not environmentally friendly

While foam stickers are great for kids to use for many craft projects, these types of stickers are not eco-friendly. Planning ahead can provide many alternatives to this frequently used project material in the classroom and at home.

Teaching children to recycle includes the precycle. Precycling occurs when before purchasing a product, such as foam stickers, the consumer actively searches for alternative products that are environmentally friendly rather than items that are not.

In my recent research on the web, foam stickers do not break down, just like Styrofoam cups, these products eventually end up in landfills and remain for years to come.

A good solution to this problem is to plan ahead and gather items or create one of your own that fits the green lifestyle we are trying to create for our children. There are many craft ideas that don’t use today’s wildly popular foam stickers, but instill a creative “bug” in our children that we strive to teach today’s youth.

Foam stickers, as well as many other ‘quick fix’ products, are the quick and easy solution to creating cute projects at school and at home, but they are not an effective solution when we are trying to set a good example for our children. children about being Environmentally Friendly.
