This may be due to the stigma of being perceived as a massage parlor or some other company providing less than legal services under the guise of another service. Often times, the salon itself will provide an environment that is unattractive to men, making the salon feel more like a spa than a service provider. The salons that provide the best unisex waxing services will generally have a unisex vibe as well, neglecting too much of a feminine appearance, although women may still be your largest audience. These types of salons describe themselves much more like a doctor’s office rather than a spa. Some salons will go so far as to promote themselves in this way, appealing to the fact that their clients don’t come to relax, but are here for quality waxing service at a good price.

The professional hair removal salon is evolving to be more responsive to both male and female clients and is morphing into a different look as a result. While there are many salons that still cling to the “old school” theory that only women worry about not having hair, the most progressive salons are breaking new ground and treating men and women equally. It’s still a good idea to ask ahead of time if your local salon offers waxing for men.
