If you know how to set up a server, you can learn how to run and operate a game server. But the difference is that managing a game server is much more complicated. If you want to run your own game server, it means you want to see it succeed. To do it the right way, we suggest you check out the 4 tips given below.

The player’s slots

You may have discovered that many servers are not configured correctly. Perhaps the owner has no idea that his server cannot support more than a certain number of players. For example, Minecraft makes use of your computer’s RAM to serve each user. If you want to serve gamers, you must have a lot of RAM.

However, we do not recommend that you allocate your RAM to the players. If ignored, it will take forever for your server to respond to player requests. In the worst case, your server may stop responding.

Your internet connection

For some games, you need a fast Internet connection. One of these games is known as Ship Simulator Extremes. If you don’t have a fast connection, the game can lag and give players a lot of trouble. Ideally, your connection should offer upload speeds of between 10-20 Mbps. On the other hand, Minecraft is fine with an upload speed of 0.5 Mbps.

Online time

Does your server have to stay online at all times? Well the answer depends on whether your server is public or not. Now if you want to use the server for a group of friends, you don’t need to keep it online at all times.

On the other hand, if the server is public, we suggest that you keep it online 24/7. You don’t know when users will access your server. If they find that your server is down most of the time, they won’t come back. So be sure to give your users maximum uptime, especially if your server is public.

Do you need staff?

Well, you may or may not need a large number of employees to take care of your server. It all depends on the security status of your servers. If your server stays online all the time, be sure to hire a moderator to take care of your server when you are away.

But if you know your server is secure and no one is going to hack into the system, you don’t need a lot of staff. This is especially true if the server is to be used by a small group of people. Alternatively, you can install protections to keep trolls out of your system.

So, here are some useful tips for you if you want to operate a game server with ease. Hopefully, you will be able to run and manage your server without any problems.
