Millions of tourists from around the world travel to Canada to enjoy its culture, attractions and natural beauty. One of the most popular vacation destinations is Toronto, Ontario. Tourists enjoy seeing the sites of downtown Toronto and visiting the various theme parks in the city. Other top Toronto attractions include the CN Tower, Skydome, Harbourfront, Toronto Islands, Toronto Zoo, Royal Ontario Museum, Casa Loma, and the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE). Major events also attract millions, including the CNE, the Caribana Festival, while major sporting events and theatrical event season take place throughout the year.

Canada’s largest city is enjoying a thriving economy in the past decade and considerable new buildings and developments are taking place in the city.

The CN Tower – the tallest freestanding structure in the world

The CN Tower is arguably Toronto’s most visited tourist attraction, recently regaining its rank as the tallest freestanding structure in the world at 554.3 meters or 1,815 feet. The elevator ride from the tower is an incredible experience for the whole family. Passengers can see any of the glass walls of the three high-speed elevators during the 20-foot-per-second ascent to the observation level. The observation deck has two decks, one with an outdoor observation area that stretches around the observation deck and offers a 360-degree panorama of the city of Toronto. There is a glass floor area where visitors can walk. It takes a little courage to walk on it and look down 1100 feet to the base of the tower and the Skydome stadium. On a clear day you can see all the way to Niagara Falls. For the more adventurous, another elevator can take you up to the 1400 foot level. This is the Skypod and you will be really high.

The CN Tower also has a unique revolving restaurant that takes dining to a whole new level of experience. The restaurant has the highest cellar in the world.

The Skydome, now called the Rogers Center, is home to the Toronto Blue Jays of the MLB League and major pop music concerts. Tours of the stadium are offered. For shoppers, the Eaton Center mall is also an incredible experience. It is a huge gallery-type mall with a glass ceiling that is over 80 feet high. The mall has 4 levels with hundreds of stores and shops serving every item imaginable.

For those who love adrenaline, Canada’s Wonderland, a giant theme park with 14 roller coasters and many other terrifying attractions. The Top Gun roller coaster, a winding and spiral ride, the Vortex roller coaster that leaves Wonder Mountain, and the Psyclone, a giant swing, are all-time favorites. WildWater Kingdom too

To see all the sites in downtown Toronto, you may want to take part in one of the tours offered by various tour operators. There are helicopter tours, boat tours, bus tours, walking tours, and even limousine tours.

Toronto Harbor offers tours aboard some interesting vessels. Dinner cruises will be enjoyed by you and your family against the colorful backdrop of Toronto’s waterfront, the sunset, and the lights of downtown Toronto buildings. It is very romantic.

Along the streets of Toronto’s Old City in the summer, you’ll find an interesting array of quaint shops, theaters and bistros, and open-air restaurants. You’ll easily enjoy a full day of shopping, sightseeing, and casual dining.

Ontario Place is a large waterfront entertainment complex with outdoor cafes and a huge IMAX theater. You will enjoy strolling through the marinas where the yachts are moored.

Just outside of Toronto

If downtown Toronto doesn’t have everything you need for an exhilarating experience, then everything you could want is close by. Niagara Falls is a 40-minute drive south. You can visit the wonder of the world Canada and visit the casinos there. Muskoka has long been a favorite of Canadian and American vacationers. There are many Muskoka resorts with golf courses, spas, and walking trails. This is rural Ontario, a stretch of beautiful scenery with rocks, trees, and rolling hills. The Gravenhurst Boat Show is held every year in early July.

Also nearby is the longest freshwater beach in Canada. For a day or two, you may want to drive north to Wasaga Beach in Georgian Bay. The water is warm and the beaches are safe.

Back in Toronto, there is more to visit. An architectural masterpiece you don’t want to miss is Casa Loma. Casa Loma is a stone castle not far west of the city center.

It is full of fascinating niches for children to explore and has a magnificent flower garden. This former Toronto castle has 98 bedrooms, 30 bathrooms, 25 fireplaces, 3 bowling alleys, a shooting gallery, and a wine cellar.

If you’re into history, there are many old Toronto buildings and districts that offer insight into life in the past. St Lawrence’s Distillery District, Entertainment District and Market area are very popular.

The Canadian Hockey Hall of Fame is an exhibition of Canada’s national pastime housed in one of Toronto’s preserved old buildings. There are many exhibits showing the great players of Canada’s greatest sport. The Hall of Fame building is located in the center of downtown Toronto and is located within a modern shopping center that in turn connects to a series of underground walkways that facilitate access to the city center on foot.

There are many hotels in the downtown Toronto area, many in the region called the entertainment district.
