The safety checklist

Maintain a library of your work, digitally and on paper. It is a good management of operations in e-commerce. Since my mind thinks fast, I first write articles on paper. It allows me to jot down ideas as I think and then correct mistakes very quickly. My words per minute count is good and I can write without looking, but nothing beats the pencil-on-paper experience. Label your content correctly and categorize it accordingly. It boosts your mind to think in that sense and in some way it makes it easier for you to find it, when you search for it through the maze that is the web: it makes it easier for you to find the needle in the haystack, out there.

Place your library in a self-contained location where nothing but your type is kept. This in itself interrupts the possibilities of mixing your documents. Upload your most important work to the cloud for security. When your house burns down and your computer explodes, you will still have your formidable assets to recover through the fruits of your labor. I personally recommend Google Docs and SkyDrive. Also look for smaller cloud companies, they often offer better deals, especially in terms of free subscription space.

Beware of online scammers. I know a guy in Barbados who works for a prominent international organization and is abusing his authority to send me fraudulent emails allegedly from the FBI. I pity him for his jealousy of my success, but that shows the caliber of people who deal with cybercrime. They are much more sophisticated than the antisocial and unreliable geeks that Hollywood likes to make us think of. When it comes to online fraud, prevention is the only way. Don’t answer, that just makes them smart about figuring out your behavior, unless you want them to think of you as a certain guy. XD As a general rule of thumb, delete any mail that is not expecting. Not even the preview. That only ignites your temptation. Just delete it after you’ve flagged it in your inbox as a phishing scam.

Stay safe online by browsing exclusively with full packages of activated antivirus programs. Windows comes activated with Windows Defender. It’s good. Use it! Get AVG or Avast for free and update later if you want. I have used Norton Antivirus and they are solid. McAfee has a good reputation. Read about them. Make comparisons, but never browse the web without any of them. The major browsers come with numerous add-ons and add-ons. Get trusted ones from the top security companies listed above to guide your browsing experience. Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox prevent you from accessing fake / dangerous websites on your own. A snap / snap is like your guide dog, guiding you through threats and obstacles that we as surfers are simply blind.
