Aquitaine

Aquitaine comes in the southwestern part of France. It has the Pyrenees mountain range along the Spanish border on the southern side and the Atlantic Ocean on the western part. It is one of the 26 regions of France and contains five administrative departments.

History of Aquitaine

The Aquitaine region has many prehistoric sites with the first recorded settlements of non-Celtic people from Aquitaine. The region has a long history dating back beyond the time of King Augustus of Rome. The number of artifacts unearthed from the various prehistoric sites has earned the Aquitaine region the title of “Cradle of the Arts”. The Gallo-Roman remains found on the site are a delight for archeology lovers.
