Everyone who owns and drives a vehicle knows exactly what a clutch is and how it works. Press down on the pedal, shift gears, and release the clutch while simultaneously accelerating. Many people do not know that the principle is much more complicated and that there is more to the clutch kit than just the clutch.

Within this system is the friction disk or disk and the pressure plate or a part called the pilot bearing. A pilot bearing is a device that is inserted into the end of the crankshaft to center and align the input shaft (where the power enters).

A pressure plate contains the clutch plate, as well as springs, a cover, and release fingers that look like the spokes on a wheel. The type of diaphragm plate is the most common plate that is installed on manual vehicles.

The clutch disc is a metal part that controls the power between the engine and the transmission. It also controls the flow of power from the pressure plate and the flywheel. The flywheel is located directly behind the clutch disc.

A friction disc is present for all clutch kits. Some clutch kits contain more than one and should be pressed firmly against the flywheel using the springs. Commonly, the clutch disc will be coated with asbestos which helps with friction. Asbestos helps with the grip between the steering wheels and the disc.

So what’s included in a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) kit? With this system, shifting is controlled by the driver, but it is not necessary to take your foot off the gas pedal, as the transmission controls the actual shift. This transmission is similar to that of an automatic vehicle. This system is jerk-free after the shift has been executed and is a much smoother way to drive. All this is possible with the help of two clutches that are for alternate numbers. There is more to the DCT than simply shifting gears to alternate numbers, and the system is much more complicated.

Anyone who drives long and heavy should know what the different parts of their clutch kit are. In case they are faced with a dangerous problem, they will need to know how to diagnose the problem and, if they are trained, they will need to replace it immediately. Replacing this part would require the proper tools, space, and time. Unfortunately, this is a component that cannot be fixed on the side of the road.
