San Diego’s museum scene is one of the most diverse and interesting out there, and with over 90 museums on the list, there are definitely plenty to choose from. I thought that instead of listing all the museums in San Diego, it would be a good idea to present some of what I think are the best museums that are worth visiting.

For those of you unfamiliar with San Diego, let me start with the museums in Balboa Park. The park, which is like a museum Mecca with about twenty museums to choose from, is one of the most beautiful parks in existence. Although it is difficult to limit yourself to a few, here are the museums that I think you should visit on your trip to Balboa Park:

or History Museum: Learn about the history of San Diego through photographs and cultural artifacts dating back to the 1840s.

or SD Automotive Museum: It went through a variety of car shows that feature the history of automotive progression.

or SD Museum of Man: Explore the anthropology of man with artifacts, folklore, and human remains that tell the story of mankind.

or SD Art Museum: Explore collections of fine and contemporary art, from 19th century Renaissance, Asian and European painting and sculpture, just to name a few.

Besides Balboa Park, there are also other great museums that you won’t want to miss while in San Diego. Here are four other great museums in the city:

or Kid’s museum: Have fun with the kids in this interactive creative zone for kids to explore the arts.

or SD Chinese Historical Museum: Learn about the heritage of Chinese culture with artifacts and photos in a building that was once a Chinese mission.

or SD aircraft carrier museum: Follow the history of Midway from the Navy with over 40 exhibits featuring 21 fully restored aircraft.

or SD Maritime Museum: Learn about the history of the US naval advancement and also board and explore real anchored ships.

Again, these are just a few of the great museums San Diego has to offer. There are many others worth visiting as well, but I hope these will help you begin to learn and explore tales of local and national history.
